Dengue

Dengue

Dengue fever is a viral disease transmitted to humans through the bite of an infected mosquito, usually Aedes aegypti.

Local transmission of dengue has not been reported in NSW for decades; however it does occur in travellers returning from endemic areas from time to time, including some areas of North Queensland where Aedes aegypti mosquitos are present.

Notification

Dengue is a laboratory notifiable disease in NSW and must be reported by phone or mail as soon as possible after diagnosis to the local Public Health Unit (PHU).

Select your local PHU  to obtain the correct notification form and notify your local PHU.
