Your Health Rights and responsibilities

Everyone seeking or receiving healthcare in NSW has certain rights and responsibilities. These include the right to access, safety respect, communication, participation, privacy and to comment on their care.

A partnership between patients and public healthcare providers leads to the best possible outcomes.

Staff in NSW Health facilities play a vital role in this process as people seeking or receiving care are not always in the position to review their rights.  A guide for NSW Health staff informs staff how these rights are achieved in NSW.

A guide for patients, carers and families explains what NSW Health consumers, their carers and family can expect from the public health system.

The poster for display in public areas outlining NSW Health Rights and responsibilities is also available.
