The nursing and midwifery workforce is one of the health system's greatest assets with over 43,000 nurses and midwives employed in the NSW public health system alone.

Our recruitment, retention, educational and promotional strategies are evidence of the high priority the NSW Government places on recruiting to and retaining nurses and midwives in the NSW public health system.

The purpose of NaMO is to

Enable the growth of the nursing and midwifery professions and their practice.
Inform and be informed by policy and decision making at all levels of government.
We achieve this through leadership, influence, vision and information, to benefit the health and well being of the community.

New graduate recruitment: registered nurse and midwifery
for new graduate registered nurse/midwife to start employment in 2012. Applications for 2012 are now closed.
Applications will open for 2013 recruitment in July 2012.
As a registered nurse or midwife graduates have the opportunity to apply to public, private and aged care facilities for employment. These positions are advertised on web sites including jobs.nsw.gov.au and in major newspapers as well as local newspapers.
Postgraduate Midwifery Students
Registered nurses wishing to become midwives are required to complete both a recognised university course in midwifery and be employed as a midwifery student in a maternity service to gain the necessary clinical experience.
Recruitment to midwifery student positions in NSW public hospitals and two private hospitals occurs through a centralised online process. Successful applicants will commence their employment in 2013.
Applications will open for 2013 recruitment on Monday 2nd July 2012 and close 9am Monday 13th August 2012.
