The Resources Officer can provide resources to:
- Tobacco retailers, regarding signage and tobacco display, required under the Public Health (Tobacco) Act 2008 and the Public Health (Tobacco) Regulation 2009.
- The general public, proprietors and licensees of licensed premises and other enclosed public places, regarding requirements and signage under the Smoke-free Environment Act 2000.
- Health professionals, regarding resources for their clients/patients.
- Individuals, requiring self-help materials for quit attempts or students who need information for assignments.
- The general public about the Environmental Tobacco Smoke and Children Campaign.
- Information about the new law that bans smoking in a car with a child under the age of 16 in the vehicle.
To make a complaint or report a breach
Members of the public are encouraged, in the first instance, to take up complaints about non-compliance with the legislation directly with proprietors.
Alternatively, members of the public can contact their local Public Health Unit or the Tobacco Information Line on 1800 357 412 or email tobacco@doh.health.nsw.gov.au.
The Tobacco Information Line can be accessed by non-English speaking persons via the translating and interpreting service (TIS) on 13 14 50.
