Responsibilities include providing secretariat for the Ministerial Maternal and Perinatal Committee and the Maternal and Perinatal Health Priority Taskforce.

PSN is responsible for the planning and coordination of high risk pregnancy services. From an operational point of view, the PSN includes the Australian Capital Territory (Canberra).
