An economic evaluation of community and residential aged care falls prevention strategies in NSW
Summary
This is the report of a project implemented by the Centre for Health Economics Research and Evaluation as part of the Coasting for Health Economic Evaluation Program, funded by the NSW Ministry of Health. It describes the cost effectiveness of falls prevention interventions in both the community and the residential aged care setting. It is the first to use the effectiveness data from the most recent community dwelling falls prevention Cochrane review (2009), and the first to convert falls avoided and hospitalisations avoided into Quality adjusted life years gained, the most commonly used outcome measure in economic evaluation.
