NSW Health provides centralised annual recruitment for graduate nurses and midwives to apply for employment in NSW public hospitals.
Applications for the NSW Health 2020 GradStart recruitment closed 12 noon Thursday 18 July 2019.
UPDATE: Applicants will receive notification of their interview outcomes via email by close of business Monday 28 October 2019. Please check both your personal email and NSW Health email if you are a current employee, for this notification.
Applicants who intend to complete their initial nursing or midwifery degree between 1 June 2019 to 31 May 2020 are eligible to apply for the NSW Health 2020 GradStart recruitment.
3 easy steps to apply
- The 2020 GradStart Handbook provides detailed information on the application and recruitment processes for graduate nursing and midwifery positions in NSW Health in 2020. Applicants are encouraged to download a copy of the handbook to assist with their application.
- A Working With Children clearance number for paid work is essential for employment with NSW Health. You must also be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA). This registration is completed through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). You can start your application for registration up to 6 weeks before completing your studies.

- Applicants apply through a centralised online application process. After application the recruitment, selection and employment of graduates is undertaken by local health districts/service networks (LHD/SN) and hospitals. For all employment related enquiries such as specific health facilities, specialty programs, intake dates, interview information/location, please contact the relevant LHD/SN GradStart Co-Ordinator.

You can edit your online application after submission as many times as you like until applications close at 12 noon Thursday 18 July 2019. Once applications close you will no longer have access to your application.
Students who elect to continue to an Honours program and do not apply through GradStart in their final year of study, or apply and withdraw before interview, are eligible to apply the following year. Students who apply and attend an interview in their final year of study, prior to Honours, are ineligible to apply for GradStart recruitment the following year.
